Director, Tri-State Program Engagement

The Director, Tri-State Program Engagement will lead the on-the-ground community education and activation efforts that are the heart and soul of our work. Reporting to the New York Executive Director, this position will be responsible for managing the front-line, community-facing engagement outreach team and helping to build and execute strategies to expand our educational footprint. Ideal candidates are experienced team managers who know how to translate organizational goals into actionable individual development plans. They will also have a strong network in the local tri-state education space – including both school systems and youth-serving CBOs – to help expand One Love’s program reach.

 

Key Responsibilities and Outcomes

Lead NY Tri-State Program Expansion

    • Build and execute tri-state engagement strategy: working with the Executive Director to develop a strategy that increases One Love’s reach in the NY regional coverage area.
    • Manage a team that executes on the strategy and support large education and community-based partnerships in the area, thereby increasing the One Love presence in the NY tri-state
    • Support ED in the development and execution of a legislative strategy that operates on a national, state, and county level
    • Work closely with the Team One Love head to expand our youth action program, creating a streamlined and easy to understand program that young people can engage with in their communities and online every day

Manage the Tri-State Engagement Team

    • Direct responsibility for managing the tri-state engagement team: establishing individual plans that align with the overall team goals and strategies, assessing progress against those plans, brainstorming ways to address roadblocks and strategic challenges, and developing professional development plans for each member of the team
    • High degree of comfort with using data and systems to track activity and mentor team to do the same; strong advocate for use of the organization’s CRM database
    • Create structured opportunities for the team to debrief with each other and share learning that can be filtered back to strategic approaches and plans
    • Comfort managing a team remotely and familiar with developing team communication processes that keep the team tightly linked even when they are not physically together

Increase the number of institutions and organizations that integrate One Love workshops into their required curriculum or program model

    • While young people highly value our program once they’ve experienced it, they are unlikely to choose to participate on their own. Therefore, it’s critical for One Love to develop relationships with public and private schools, as well as CBO partners to increase reach
    • Develop and oversee pilot programs to implement One Love in schools and community-based organizations, with an eye towards long-term plans that deepen engagement with our mission

Establish, build and maintain strong external relationships for One Love

    • Build and manage relationships that support organizational goals and vision
    • Activate existing education network to establish new relationships and ultimately further One Love’s reach and impact
    • Plan and execute strategic projects that deepen our relationships with key external partners

 

Qualifications & Attributes 

  • Deep passion for One Love’s mission and movement
  • Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of experience
  • Proven record of building partnerships and expanding programs
  • Demonstrated success building the educational reach and impact of a program targeting young people and adults
  • Educational experience in NY tri-state required/experience with large public school district preferred
  • 5+ years’ experience managing diverse teams, including demonstrated ability to successfully motivate, manage, and mentor a team to meet objectives; experience managing remotely preferred
  • Data-driven leader with a strong goals and metrics orientation
  • A polished communicator and excellent writer, able to effectively articulate the case for One Love support
  • High energy, enthusiasm, and a strong work ethic
  • Low ego, patient and collaborative team leader who is eager to work collaboratively with junior and senior colleagues to reach shared goals
  • Entrepreneurial mindset that embraces experimentation and can quickly pivot where required. Prior experience working in a fast growth organization preferred
  • Ability to be a strategic leader and visionary as well as to chart out a tactical plan of action. High comfort with multi-tasking is a must. Creativity is essential
  • Extremely self-motivated with the ability to work both independently as well as part of a team
  • Sense of humor is a plus!

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

The compensation and benefits package is competitive with comparable nonprofits in the region. The position is based in New York, with travel around the tri-state required.

About One Love

One Love was founded in honor of Yeardley Love, a 22-year-old college student who was killed by her ex-boyfriend. After her death, the family started the One Love Foundation to educate young people about the difference between healthy and unhealthy relationships.
